It's all happenings, vol 2

Scout had her first classes today, starting a solid, 5-days-a-week semester that, fortunately, sees no class starting before noon*. We started the day by going to the bank to pay our rent because we couldn't figure out how to do it via the nearbyest ATM. Fortunately, the bank(er)s will run you thru the steps so you don't have to go in each month - and they don't have to help you. The ATMs have multi-lingual options (English and Portuguese are the two other languages I can remember, but there must be 5). We went back to the main branch of Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi (MUFG - known to us as the mufugg'n bank), where we have our accounts, because of the American who works there and is helpful in such matters. She said the transfer option is only available in Japanese because they didn't want to have to translate every possible account the bank - or other, linked banks - holds. Makes sense. She ran us thru the steps and had the ATM(s - all of them) rememberize that info so it'll be easier to do next time - 5 steps or so, down from 10. Amazing.

1 of the steps we enjoyed quite a bit. Just before you pick the account into which you want to deposit money, in our case rental agency, (as there are no checks here, this is how it's done, mostly) you have to confirm that you've looked around and there are no creepy people nearby. The included creepy-person drawing - and I'll try to get a photo next time - looks like the Spy Vs Spy spies. Good times.

Remember: old news.
